Experience Profile
Manufacturing Facility Expansion // North Kingstown, RI Size: 223,000 sf // Architect: Excel Engineering Edesia
Edesia’s 80,000 SF manufacturing, warehouse, and office facility sits on a 10.1-acre site in the Quonset Business Park in North Kingstown, RI. With a 6.6-acre ground lease expansion, Edesia is looking to develop a 223,000 SF expansion to its current facility on the newly combined 16.7-acre parcel. The project will involve the construction of building additions to the west (Phase 1) and northeast (Phase 2) of the existing building. The site currently consists of paved parking surrounding the existing building, landscape areas, undeveloped paved/grass areas, and a former rail line to the west and north of the site. The Phase 1 building addition located west of the existing building will consist of a 165,000-square-foot addition, and the Phase 2 building addition located north of the existing building will include a 58,000-square-foot addition with loading areas to the north, west, and south. The project also involves the construction of associated access roadways, parking areas, and stormwater management areas.

Universal Building 9A/9B // North Kingstown, RI Size: 325,000 sf // Architect: Stantec General Dynamics Electric Boat
General Dynamics Electric Boat Universal Buildings 9A & 9B consist of two buildings which are ultimately connected to form one massive structure. Both buildings consist of three major bays where EB staff will craft submarine hulls. Major structural scope includes rapid impact compaction, cast in place concrete piles, a significant amount of structural steel, and metal panels cladding the exterior façade. The project is presently the largest in the State of Rhode Island and will offer residents significant employment opportunity, not only with the building trades during construction but also with Electric Boat upon final completion.

STEM Research Center Science One Building // Storrs, CT Size: 180,000 sf // Architect: Payette Architects University of Connecticut
Dimeo Construction Company recently completed the University’s new STEM Research Center, as part of the Northwest Science Quad District. This new campus district houses the expansion of UCONN’s research enterprise in a distinct campus quadrangle. It is designed to meet both the current and future programmatic requirements of the University as it seeks to balance the anticipated rise in student enrollment in STEM programs with future research needs. The building program includes research, teaching, administrative, a clean room, a series of material science specific core labs, a 300-seat auditorium and support spaces. The building has been award LEED Gold.

Educational Program // Warwick, RI Size: 95,000 sf // Architect: Edward Rowse Architects, Inc. National Elevator Industry
Dimeo Construction Company completed the 95,000 sf National Elevator Industry Educational Program (NEIEP) project in Warwick, RI. The new facility is comprised of educational space, tool shop, office space as well as a rental space for the local Elevator Union branch. All new MEP’s, new electrical service, new entrance to the building and metal panels on the exterior of the building with an entire new roof assembly with EPDM insulated roofing system.

Port of Providence // Providence, RI Size: 33,500 sf // Architect: Wood Architects, PLC Offshore Wind Facility
Dimeo Construction Company served as the Construction Manager for the Design/Build Offshore Wind Foundation Facility at the Port of Providence in Rhode Island. The project consists of one single story modular operations building and two high bay manufacturing facilities will be used to assemble offshore wind generators. The project is the base for advanced fabrication and assembly of foundation platforms for wind projects planned in Rhode Island, Connecticut, and New York. This effort is part of Ørsted A/S and Eversource Energy’s forty-million-dollar investment in the Providence and Quonset ports for a slew of major wind farm projects.

101 College Street // New Haven, CT Size: 500,000 sf // Architect: Elkus-Manfredi Architects Winstanley Enterprises
Dimeo Construction Company recently completed the core and shell of a new 500,000 sf ten story office and life sciences research development facility located at 101 College Street in New Haven, CT. The building is designed by Elkus Manfredi Architects and in addition to the new building, features a parking area for 116 vehicles, loading docks at service drives and site improvements including a semi-public outdoor courtyard, sidewalks and streetscape improvements.

Port and Cement Distribution Facility // Providence, RI Size: 60,000 sf // Architect: Lehigh Valley Technical Associates Glen Falls Lehigh Cement
This project involved an aggressive thirteen-month schedule to construct a cement distribution facility at the Port of Providence. The 44,000 ton storage facility was encased in a 140 ft-dia, 112 ft. tall, polyester-core, PVC-coated fabric dome that will store Turkish-manufactured cement. This is the first time such a dome has been married to the floor system. The dome was inflated using fans and then sprayed with a two-inch thick layer of polyurethane insulation on the inside for rigidity, and then it is overlapped with rebar and shotcrete. Project scope included all site work and landscaping.

John J. Bowen Center for Science and Technology // Providence, RI Size: 73,000 sf // Architect: Edward Rowse Architects Johnson & Wales
This 73,000 sf, three-story, LEED Gold rating, building serves as home to JWU’s School of Engineering & Design and the College of Arts & Science’s new biology program. The building will house the Alan Shawn Feinstein Technology & Design Center, biology labs that support physics, chemistry, organic chemistry and microbiology, faculty offices and an outdoor courtyard designed to support collaborative learning.

Research Campus // Gloucester, RI Size: 200,000 sf // Architect: Bergmeyer Associates
Dimeo Construction Company completed the design/build of a new research campus for all fire testing and materials testing including staff offices and visitor facilities. The site was reconfigured for the new construction and infrastructure improvements were implemented to upgrade the existing conditions and to provide the necessary services to the new facilities.

Cell & Gene Therapy Clinical Manufacturing Expansion // Providence, RI Size: 21,360 sf // Architect: CI Design, Inc. Vertex Pharmaceuticals
Dimeo Construction Company recently completed the Cell & Gene Therapy Clinical Manufacturing Expansion project in Providence, Rhode Island. This project was approached in two parts. The first, to create a new 13,500 sf of new Clinical Manufacturing clean space for cell and gene therapy, including architectural, structural, plumbing, mechanical, and electrical infrastructure upgrades. The second part was the occupied renovation of the existing 4,400 sf of research and development space.
