Experience Profile

101 College Street // New Haven, CT Size: 500,000 sf // Architect: Elkus-Manfredi Architects Winstanley Enterprises

Dimeo Construction Company recently completed the core and shell of a new 500,000 sf ten story office and life sciences research development facility located at 101 College Street in New Haven, CT. The building is designed by Elkus Manfredi Architects and in addition to the new building, features a parking area for 116 vehicles, loading docks at service drives and site improvements including a semi-public outdoor courtyard, sidewalks and streetscape improvements.

New Trial Court // Lowell, MA Size: 277,000 sf // Architect: Finegold Alexander & Associates, Inc. Lowell Justice Center

The 277,000 sf, 7-floor Cornelius F. Kiernan Justice Center in the historic Hamilton Canal District of downtown Lowell is a modern, energy-efficient building that sets a new courthouse standard for sustainable design and environment quality for visitors and staff. There are seventeen courtrooms with state-of-the-art security and technology features. An artist has been commissioned to integrate Lowell’s historic architecture and diversification as well as judicial influence into the front entry glass curtain wall system. The completed facility contains the operations of the District, Housing, Superior, Juvenile and Probate, and Family Courts. It also has office space for court staff, a Law Library, a detainee holding area, the Registry of Deeds, the office of the District Attorney, and a Grand Jury Room.

Corporate Office Facility // Providence, RI Size: 327,000 sf // Architect: SMMA Blue Cross Blue Shield of RI

This thirteen story office building plus a rooftop mechanical penthouse consists of 327,000 sf of open landscaped offices and private offices, seven elevators, two stair towers at the core, a cafeteria, and a small fitness center. The project has been designated as a LEED Gold certified building by USGBC.

New Residences at Morrissey Boulevard // Boston, MA Size: 219,000 sf // Architect: ICON Architecture Hub25

Located in the Dorchester section of Boston, HUB 25 consists of 278 apartments in two buildings nestled on a 2.35 acre site, situated directly adjacent to the JFK Redline Transit station (with bus, train and commuter rail services). Hub 25 mixes commercial and live/work ground level spaces with innovative apartments. Each building is five stories tall, clad in unique combinations of metal shingles, corrugated metal siding, metal panels and brick. The buildings are designed with a structural steel frame on the lower levels and a panelized wood frame on the upper floors. Amenities include a fitness room, a club room and an outdoor pool.

Residential and Mixed-Use Development // Boston, MA Size: 380,000 sf // Architect: ICON Architecture Avenir

Avenir is a 241 unit ‘high-end’ rental development, with 17 below-market units, in a ten story steel-framed structure. Included within the structure are 116 parking spaces, 28,000 sf of commercial space, and 7,000 sf of reworked MBTA station entries. The project is situated above, and is partially supported by the structure of the MBTA’s Orange and Green Line North Super Station. The building’s varied massing and texture responds to the historic context of individual buildings aggregated over time, while meeting the technical challenges involved in building on top of a subway “superstation”.

Benjamin Franklin and Pauli Murray Residential Colleges // New Haven, CT Size: 550,000 sf // Architect: Robert A.M. Stern Architects Yale University

The residential colleges house over 600 students and include a fitness center, dance studio, library, dining halls, Head of College residences, and variously-sized courtyards, black box theater. With 70,000 custom-shaped bricks, 436 custom stone ornaments, 600+ stone profiles, and more than 1.8 million bricks, the residential colleges was one of the most complex and demanding masonry projects presently under construction in the United States.

New Corporate Campus // Johnston, RI Size: 425,000 sf // Architect: Elkus-Manfredi Architects Citizens Bank

Citizens Financial Group selected Dimeo Construction Company to serve as their construction manager for the new corporate campus on an undeveloped parcel of land west of I-295 in Johnston, RI. The campus includes approximately 425,000 sf of office and meeting space, collaborative work spaces, dining and fitness facilities — as well as a 1300 space parking garage, baseball fields, tennis and basketball courts, and trails that the local community will use. Approximately 3,000 employees occupy the new campus.

School of Management // New Haven, CT Size: 325,000 sf // Architect: Foster+ Partners, IBI Group - Gruzen Samton Yale University

The academic building features a glass facade and open layout, centered around a courtyard, linking the building architecturally and visually. The ground floor features the largest gathering spaces, such as the courtyard, a 350-seat auditorium, and a cafe. 16 classrooms are outfitted like boardrooms and enable broadcasting. Other features include; breakout rooms, lounges, faculty/ administrative offices, and a library on the upper floor.

Performing Arts Center // Worcester, MA Size: 85,000 sf // Architect: Diller, Scofidio and Renfro College of the Holy Cross

The new 85,000 sf Performing Arts Center at The College of The Holy Cross was designed by the world-class firm of Diller, Scofidio, and Renfro. The building boasts a 400-seat proscenium theater/ concert hall, a 200-seat black box style theater, a media lab, an art gallery, and outdoor spaces, all surrounding “The Beehive”, a multi-story lobby which contains a monumental staircase, cafe, and several balcony spaces which serve various functions.

Ambulatory Care Center Fit-Out // Farmington, CT Size: 300,000 sf // Architect: Perkins Eastman University of Connecticut

The new ACC Building houses existing clinical programs and support services from the Dowling North and South Buildings and other clinical faculty practices from the Main Building of UCHC.

Residential Redevelopment Phases I-III // Norwalk, CT Total Size: 359,838 sf // Architect: ICON Architecture / DKH Architects, Inc. Washington Village

The Washington Village Redevelopment was a three phase project designed to revitalize South Norwalk. 136 units of public housing was replaced with a new 273 apartment complex, 50 percent of which will be reserved for public housing. The project was in a Coastal Flood Zone and was constructed simultaneously with the City of Norwalk’s reconstruction of adjacent Raymond and Day Streets to mitigate flood damage to the development. The site accommodates surface level parking, in addition to exterior surface parking, landscaping, site lighting, street trees, and sidewalk. This residential redevelopment initiative represents total collaboration of Federal, State and Local agencies and was administered under two section 3 guidelines.

Schwarzman Center Renovations and Additions // New Haven, CT Size: 110,000 sf // Architect: Robert A.M. Stern Architects Yale University

The historic Commons is the first building dedicated to student life and is utilized for major university events. The Schwarzman Center includes student meeting spaces and creative dining options, flexible spaces for special events, and state-of-the-art technology. In addition, Dimeo Construction Company, along with Architect Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates completed additional repairs to the dome’s failed existing flat seam lead coated copper (LCC) cladding. Dimeo repaired the structural components that had deteriorated with supplemental steel. Additional scope of work included erecting scaffolding that encompassed the entire dome and replaced 1/3 of the upper (LCC).

Retail and Residential Complexes, Parking Expansion & Streetscape // Natick, MA Size: 2,000,000 sf // Architect: Stantec The NATICK Collection

Dimeo served as the Construction Manager for General Growth Properties for a multi-phased retail and residential expansion to its existing mall in Natick, MA. This major expansion and renovation project included a retail portion with 550,000 sf of new retail space on two floors and 3,580 structured parking spaces on three separate parking decks. Additionally, 160,000 sf of the existing mall was renovated while the space remained completely occupied. The residential portion of the project consisted of a 215 unit, 457,000 sf facility which included amenities such as concierge service, fitness center, library, billiards room, screening room, outdoor grilling area, a +/-35,000 sf fully landscaped “green” roof area, and structured parking for 373 vehicles. These one, two, and three bedroom, high-end luxury condominiums are located in two towers, one 12 stories, and the other 10, with a parking garage linking them.

Parking Garage // Providence, RI Size: 417,000 sf // Architect: Walker Parking Consultants Garrahy Courthouse

The Dimeo team constructed the Garrahy Parking Garage, situated in downtown Providence, directly adjacent to the Garrahy Courthouse. This 417,000 sf parking garage, designed by Walker Parking Consultants, has one level of parking below ground level for the judges, and 6 stories above ground for court personnel as well as public parking. There is also roughly 5,000 sq ft of mercantile space on the ground floor along Richmond Street.

Ruane Friar Development Center // Providence, RI Size: 58,000 sf // Architect: Perkins Eastman Providence College

Dimeo Construction Company completed the Providence College Ruane Friar Development Center in Providence, RI. A gift from former Providence College Board of Trustees Chair Michael A. Ruane ’71 & ’13 Hon. and his wife, Elizabeth Ruane, enabled the construction of the Ruane Friar Development Center. Phase I of the project concentrates on the men’s basketball, athletic training center, athlete support services, offices, a new Friar Athletics Hall of Fame, and a dining room. It will promote academic success, team-building, skills development, conditioning, and wellness.

New Hotel & Luxury Residential Suites // Westerly, RI Size: 172,000 sf // Architect: Centerbrook Architects & Planners Ocean House

Originally built in 1868, with reconstruction after a devastating fire in the 1970s, the grand Victorian facade of Ocean House has served as an icon for Watch Hill for more than a century. The 142,000 sf structure includes an additional 30,000 sf of porches and roof terraces. The facility incorporates 23 luxury residences with 49 hotel rooms and an enclosed 42-car garage. In addition to the hotel site, Dimeo also constructed an eighty car surface lot across the street. Open year round, the hotel will be host to a world class spa, indoor lap pool, three seasonal dining venues, state-of-the-art exercise venue and all hotel amenities.

Facilities Improvements // Providence, RI Size: 78,500 sf // Architect: EYP Architecture and Engineering Hasbro Children’s Hospital

Dimeo Construction Company recently completed extensive renovations at the Hasbro Children’s Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island. The 8 story building was built in 1994 and houses pediatric ambulatory, emergency department, oncology, administration, surgical, PICU, and inpatient ser vices that remained in service during the renovations. In total, there were 50 phases of demolition and reconstruction of the various areas including nursing stations, reception and waiting areas, elevator and lobby areas, new finish upgrades lighting and wayfinding. The project was completed almost entirely during the COVID 19 global pandemic with minimal interruptions to patient care.
