Science Building // New Haven, CT Size: 280,000 sf // Architect: Stantec / Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects Yale University

The Yale Science Building is a new seven-level structure which includes a rooftop greenhouse, aquatics & insect labs, animal care labs, state-of-the-art imaging technology, quantitative biology center, innovative physics labs, chemical storage, and a 500-seat lecture hall. The structure is home to labs, classrooms, and research support spaces dedicated to understanding the evolution of plants, disease vectors of insects, and atomic, molecular, and optical physics. A primary goal of the project was to eliminate disciplinary silos and encourage collaboration across specialized scientific platforms. Project planning occurred over a 21 month timeline, from design concepts through GMP, including multiple design iterations, environmental impact studies and geometric revisions.
