M & T Bank Arena // Hamden, CT Size: 191,800 sf // Architect: Centerbrook Architects & Planners Quinnipiac University

The M&T Bank Arena at Quinnipiac University, formerly the TD Banknorth Sports Center, is a 191,800-sf facility that contains a 3,710-seat basketball arena and a 3,247-seat hockey arena. The arenas are joined by a common lobby area for concession stands and ticket sales. The center also includes offices, locker rooms, club and premium seating, conference and meeting rooms, storage, and weight-training facilities. It also offers athletic rehab and varsity strength and conditioning. Dimeo provided value engineering suggestions during the design development and construction document phases, as requested by Quinnipiac University. Over $2.3 million in project savings were incorporated into the final construction documents—many value engineering suggestions related to MEP systems, site work, and building infrastructure. The arena became the home of Quinnipiac’s NCAA Division I hockey and basketball programs. The building was the first in Quinnipiac’s $150 million economic development project at its 230-acre York Hill campus.
