Shanley Hall // Providence, RI Size: 122,730 sf // Architect: SMMA Providence College
Construction recently completed on the new residence hall. Named for Rev. Brian J. Shanley, PC’s 12th president, Shanley Hall is a six-story dormitory facility spanning 122,730 square feet, consisting of 82 suites for sophomores for a total of 362 beds. The project consists of 6 stories of Girder Slab system construction with 8” Hollow Core Planks.

Swartwout & Street Hall // New Haven, CT Size: 105,000 sf // Architect: Ennead Architects Yale University
Dimeo renovated and built additional gallery space appropriately configured for permanent collections, including the restoration of original galleries of Street Hall and a rooftop addition to Swartwout. Scope of work included consolidating temporary exhibition galleries, object study gallery, classrooms, public education areas, offices for educational department, additional collection storage and support areas, and new mechanical system required to control humidity.

School of Management // New Haven, CT Size: 325,000 sf // Architect: Foster+ Partners, IBI Group - Gruzen Samton Yale University
The academic building features a glass facade and open layout, centered around a courtyard, linking the building architecturally and visually. The ground floor features the largest gathering spaces, such as the courtyard, a 350-seat auditorium, and a cafe. 16 classrooms are outfitted like boardrooms and enable broadcasting. Other features include; breakout rooms, lounges, faculty/ administrative offices, and a library on the upper floor.

Museum Center // Hartford, CT Size: 35,000 sf // Architect: Robert A.M. Stern Architects (RAMSA) The Mark Twain House
Construction of the new 35,000 sf Museum Center for the Mark Twain House included a mixed use space featuring exhibit spaces, a 176-seat Lecture Hall, classrooms, reading room, collections workrooms and storage space. A 75-seat café with outdoor terrace and a Museum Store add to the visitor’s amenities. The new building echoes the shapes of the historic structures on the property with an exterior of brick, sandstone and fieldstone and consists of three floors: one below ground and two above ground. Climate controlled storage space was created for the museum’s collections of books, manuscripts, photographs, etc. Visitors will also be able to view an orientation film by documentary film maker Ken Burns. Construction took place on a tight site abutting an active high school campus in Hartford, CT. The Mark Twain project is the first LEED certified building in Connecticut and the first LEED certified museum in the country.

Benjamin Franklin and Pauli Murray Residential Colleges // New Haven, CT Size: 550,000 sf // Architect: Robert A.M. Stern Architects Yale University
These buildings house over 600 students and include a fitness center, dance studio, library, dining halls, Head of College residences, and variously-sized courtyards, black box theater. With 70,000 custom-shaped bricks, 436 custom stone ornaments, 600+ stone profiles, and more than 1.8 million bricks, the new residential colleges was one of the most complex and demanding masonry projects presently under construction in the United States.

STEM Research Center Science One Building // Storrs, CT Size: 180,000 sf // Architect: Payette Architects University of Connecticut
Dimeo Construction Company recently completed the University’s new STEM Research Center, as part of the Northwest Science Quad District. This new campus district houses the expansion of UCONN’s research enterprise in a distinct campus quadrangle. It is designed to meet both the current and future programmatic requirements of the University as it seeks to balance the anticipated rise in student enrollment in STEM programs with future research needs. The building program includes research, teaching, administrative, a clean room, a series of material science specific core labs, a 300-seat auditorium and support spaces. The building has been award LEED Gold.

W-CSC Shared Collection Storage // New Haven, CT Size: 47,289 sf // Architect: TLB Architecture, LLC Yale University
The W-CSC Shared Collection project will provide shared painting and 3D object collection storage at the West Campus Collection Study Center (CSC) for the relocation of the contents of the Library Shelving Facility (LSF) module 5 and other collections from the Yale University Art Gallery (YUAG), Yale Center for British Art (YCBA), Beinecke Rare Book Library (BRBL), and the Peabody Museum (YPMNH). The project included the renovation approximately 27,000 sf of existing building and the addition of approximately 15,000 sf of new building. The project consists of two phases which reconfigure existing curator and collections groups and adds a new high bay addition for art storage.

Science Building // New Haven, CT Size: 280,000 sf // Architect: Stantec / Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects Yale University
The Yale Science Building is a seven-level structure which includes a rooftop greenhouse, aquatics and insect labs, animal care labs, state-of-the-art imaging technology, quantitative biology center, innovative physics labs, chemical storage, and a 500-seat lecture hall. The structure is home to labs, classrooms, and research support spaces dedicated to understanding the evolution of plants, disease vectors of insects, and atomic, molecular, and optical physics. A primary goal of the project was to eliminate disciplinary silos and encourage collaboration across specialized scientific platforms. Project planning occurred over a 21 month timeline, from design concepts through GMP, including multiple design iterations, environmental impact studies and geometric revisions.

101 College Street // New Haven, CT Size: 500,000 sf // Architect: Elkus-Manfredi Architects Winstanley Enterprises
Dimeo Construction Company recently completed the core and shell of a new 557,585 sf twelve-story office and life sciences research development facility located at 101 College Street in New Haven, CT. The building is designed by Elkus Manfredi Architects and in addition to the new building, will feature a parking area for 116 vehicles, loading docks at service drives, and site improvements, including a semi-public outdoor courtyard, sidewalks, and streetscape improvements.

Performing Arts Center // Worcester, MA Size: 85,000 sf // Architect: Diller, Scofidio and Renfro College of the Holy Cross
The new 85,000 sf Performing Arts Center at The College of The Holy Cross was designed by the world-class firm of Diller, Scofidio, and Renfro. The building boasts a 400-seat proscenium theater/ concert hall, a 200-seat black box style theater, a media lab, an art gallery, and outdoor spaces, all surrounding “The Beehive”, a multi-story lobby which contains a monumental staircase, cafe, and several balcony spaces which serve various functions.
