The renovations to Yale University’s Kline Chemistry Laboratory created state-of the-art science research labs within a 1960’s era building originally designed to accommodate now-outmoded configurations. Project scope includes an interior gut renovation of the building to make way for all new labs and lab support areas with new casework, medical gases and fume hoods. Truly a laboratory building, it has no lecture halls, libraries, classrooms, etc. Exterior envelope improvements and a new 14,000 sf mechanical penthouse on the roof were also included in the project. Energy reduction strategies include the use of high performance hoods, heat recovery systems and fan-wall technology.
